Other Important Teaching Principle

Also other important teaching principles that you need to apply include;

  •  Practice, practice, practice - Ensure that you get them to continuously practice their reading, writing and maths skills. â€‹â€‹

  •  Keep it in their memory - People forget easily. Ensure that your child keeps what they learn in their memory.

  •  Repetition, repetition, repetition - Regular repetition is the way that you keep things in their memory. Show them, don't explain - Don’t spend time with long explanations of how to do things. Present them with the facts and they will learn the rules automatically.

  •  A little bit everyday - Don’t try to do too much at once. Doing a little bit every day adds up to a lot over time.

  •  Age-appropriate fun and engaging material – Kids need you to make it fun. There should be a balance so that material is not so entertaining that it does not educate. But also avoid purely education with no fun.

  •  Lots of praise - Ensure you praise your baby/toddler often.

  •  Patience - You must be patient with your child. It takes time to see results.

  •  Interactive - Find ways to make what you are teaching interactive.

  •  Monitor and assess - Periodically assess your child’s progress. Utilise video/digital/audio media where possible.

  •  Incentivise - Incentivise your baby/toddler with rewards when necessary

  •  Don’t pressure - Please don’t pressure your child; it is totally unnecessary and can cause them to want to discontinue learning.
